•Our History/Nuestra Historia

Amigos is a small, volunteer-driven human rights organization that was established in Eugene, OR, in 1993. It was originally created to assist Latin American families who came to the United States after having experienced political violence and torture, and was formerly known as Amigos de los Sobrevivientes (Friends of the Survivors).

Amigos continues its commitment to promoting respect for human rights through its current programs, which focus on human rights education and advocacy on behalf of immigrant rights.

In carrying out its programs, Amigos Multicultural Services Center draws upon support from a variety of friends and allies, including: CAUSA, PCUN, American Friends Service Committee’s Project Voice, Western States Center, Community Alliance for Lane County; Eugene/Springfield Solidarity Network, LEAD; and the Trauma Healing Project.

We are extremely grateful to our individual donors. In addition, we wish to thank the following foundations for their recent financial support: The Hundredth Monkey, McKenzie River Gathering Foundation, Ralph L. Smith Foundation, and RESIST Inc.
