Through its Immigrant Rights Advocacy Program, Amigos engages in outreach to immigrants and non-immigrants to raise awareness of immigrant rights as human rights; collaborates with allies to educate, organize, and mobilize people on behalf of immigrant rights and immigration reform; and offers speakers and panel participants on human rights topics, particularly topics that relate to U.S. immigration policies and the human rights experiences of immigrants from Latin America.
Amigos carries out a highly active Youth Program, whose key component is Juventud FACETA, an immigrant Latino youth group whose members range in age from 14 to 24. The program is aimed at youth leadership development and training youth to become human rights advocates. Juventud FACETA was selected by the City of Eugene Human Rights Commission to receive its 2008 Martin Luther King Community Leadership award in recognition of the youth group's "contributions to human rights and race relations."
